Jolee, a Snow Canyon varsity soccer player, has been playing soccer for as long as she can remember… since she was five years old.
At first, it was for fun, the rush of beating her opponents, then, as the years wore on, soccer became more than just a sport for her, it became a place where she could push herself beyond limits, a way to channel her fiery competitiveness.
As a high school senior, Jolee is seeing the game differently than ever before. After being recruited by The National ODP team in England, having grueling practices in Costa Rica, and the exhilarating moment she had found out she'd received a Division 1 scholarship to the University of Northern Colorado... they all seemed distant now, like trophies on a shelf. They were a part of her journey, but not the whole picture.
Her hands clenched the ball tightly, grounding herself in the present. The highs and the lows of

the game echoed in her mind; each win, each loss, each bruise and sore muscle. All those early mornings, the endless drills, the moments when she felt like giving up, they had shaped her even more than the victories had. With that realization, something profound settled inside her.
She had learned to appreciate it all, the sweat, the exhaustion, the self-doubt, and the triumphs. They were all pieces of the puzzle, the game was no longer just about the scoreboard; it was about how it molded her into something stronger, both physically and mentally.
As the ball rolled to a stop, Jolee took a deep breath and kicked it into motion. She dribbled down the field, each movement quick and decisive, her eyes focused but not solely on the goal. She had learned to play for the love of the game, to appreciate the journey rather than chase the fleeting moments of victory. The wins will come, but the process of how you grow and evolve as a player, that's what will define you.

Now, with each stride, Jolee felt herself growing. The game no longer felt like a race to get to the top, but a marathon where the most important part was to stay true to her passion, to challenge herself every day, and to give it her all.
As she reached the goalpost, she stopped for a second, her chest rising and falling with each breath. She looked around… at the teammates who had supported her, the field that had witnessed her journey, and smiled.
It wasn’t about being the best in the world anymore. It was about knowing that, win or lose, she had given everything for her team and self.
Jolee Irvin formed into more than just a soccer player. She was a part of something bigger, a testament to the fact that it was the time, effort, and mindset she had gained that was the victory. Once she discovered this, she became unstoppable.
For any athlete, for anyone facing challenges, it isn't about how many goals you score, but how many times you get up when the game is hard. As Jolee came to learn this, she knew high school soccer was just the beginning.
